Throughout the Bible, God promised the advent, or arrival of His Son, Jesus. This event altered human history forever, as the God of the universe became human, lived among us, and suffered on our behalf in order to give us eternal life with Him. With this in mind, the 4 weeks of Advent are a time when we remember Jesus’ first coming while also looking forward to His return. 

God’s Kingdom is a restored world in which heaven and earth are united in perfect peace and life flourishes in the radiance of God’s glory.

It’s a spiritual reality in God’s presence where we will be free from death, mourning and pain, and thrive in a Kingdom marked by joy, justice, mercy, and kindness.

With the arrival of Jesus Christ, this kingdom didn’t begin with the coronation of a mighty king but in the birth of a crying baby.

This kingdom is in our midst in the person and presence of Jesus, who demonstrates its power in his works and in his words describes what it’s like as he invites you to enter into it.

The good news of Advent, the Christmas season and the Gospel is that Jesus’ arrival has ushered in the kingdom of heaven on earth here among us according to God’s plan to restore the world.

This Christmas season, you’re invited to join as we study the way Jesus taught us to pray and join with Jesus in praying for God’s plan to continue unfolding as we say, “your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.”
